Changes to Risk and Engagement Score Calculation

Learning analytics (LA) has become a key area of study to assist in customizing teaching and learning. It refers to the processing and interpretation of massive quantity and variety of information generated by students, in order to understand and optimize the learning process and environment. Two aspects of Learning Analytics: Student Engagement and Academic Risk are included as part of greymatter v9.4 release.
Engagement Score
- Institutional users can configure Engagement Score variables by selecting:
- Activities such as Events, Emails, Phone, Case, etc.
- Provide Weightage, and
- Define Timeline such as within last 30/60/90 days
- System will calculate Score.
- Alerts will be sent to Advisors and Student, if Engagement Score falls below or above a certain range.
Risk Score
- Institutional users can configure Risk Score variables by selecting:
- Data such as Assignments, Grades, class room participation, attendance, etc.
- Provide Weightage, and
- Define Timeline such as Current or last Academic Period, etc.
- Risk within a Course and/or based on Profile.
- System will calculate Score.
- Alerts will be sent to Advisors and Student, if Engagement Score falls below or above a certain range.
